MASSAGE THERAPY

This massage treatment is personalized to your specific needs, from physical ailments/conditions, to injuries, to recovery, to repetitive use/strain. Your therapist will specifically address areas of pain, and tightness or restriction in the body.

The treatment session may require a short assessment to better meet your concerns and assist your therapist in treatment planning with optimal results in mind. Following an initial palpation of the area and a light massage to prepare the muscles for deeper work, the therapist will focus most of their efforts on releasing areas of increased muscle tension, increasing flexibility and range of motion.

Healing balms and lotions may be incorporated to reduce pain and inflammation. While some discomfort during or following treatment is normal, acute pain is not., you can expect your treatment to be safe and highly effective.

BENEFITS:
Boosts immunity
Decreases depression and anxiety
Relieves pain and stiffness
Improves and aligns posture
Increases range of motion
Improves circulation
Helps lower blood pressure

CAUTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS:

SPORTS MASSAGE

In recent years, sports massage has been gaining popularity as athletes are experiencing the difference and trainers are recognizing the benefits. Sports Massage enhances sports performance but also prevents injury and facilitates the recovery and rebuilding phase. Pressure can vary depending on personal preference.

Sports Massage improves blood and lymph circulation, releases the muscles, reduces pain, decreases scar tissue and increases flexibility. It can help you recover faster from intensive workouts by assisting in the elimination of lactic acid build-up in the muscles and can help reduce delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS)

Over exercised muscles lose their capacity to release, causing tight or hypertonic muscles, which can also reduce overall flexibility. When muscles are tense, they become deprived of oxygen, this, in turn, can cause a decrease in circulation to the affected area. In contrast, when muscles are free of restriction, increased blood flow delivers oxygen and nutrients to the area assisting the repair of damaged tissues.

From weekend warrior to elite athletes, Sports Massage will help keep you in your best optimal shape. By integrating sports massage into your training schedule, the therapist can assist your body to train harder, challenge your personal best, prepare you for your activity/competition and apply post workout/event techniques to help you relax and recover afterwards.

BENEFITS:
Alleviates muscle tension
Improves recovery, prevent and bring relief to this delayed onset muscle soreness
Increase flexibility and range of motion
Releases endorphins into the body, a natural pain reliever
Increases focus and decreases cortisol by reducing stress
Reduces swelling
Enhances athletic conditioning and performance

CAUTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS:
High blood pressure
Hernias
Fractures
Skin diseases and open wounds
Recent surgery
Deep vein thrombosis
Fever, bacterial or viral infections

MASSAGE and MYOFASCIAL CUPPING

Your massage treatment will be enhanced with the addition of myofascial cupping.

Cupping is an ancient Chinese form of alternative medicine in which your therapist places specially designed, small cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. Benefits include reducing pain and inflammation, increasing blood flow, inducing relaxation, overall well-being and vital energy

This treatment is very effective for relieving local pain, releasing muscle tension, mobility restriction and reducing scar tissue. When injuries or trauma happen deep in the muscles, bleeding can occur causing deep bruising, which may result in stagnated circulation. If left untreated, this stagnation may lead to dysfunction, pain or other chronic conditions.

Cupping has been found to reach the depth of four inches into the tissues of the body. When the cups are placed on the skin, a partial vacuum of reduced oxygen (suction) is created in the cups. This suction draws up the underlying tissues, the old non-circulating blood and toxic fluids, pulling them to the surface where the body’s natural circulation system takes care of it…creating a more efficient flow of nutrients for faster recovery.

BENEFITS:
Relieves local muscle pain and tension, causing tissues to release toxins
Activates the lymphatic system
Clears colon blockages
Helps activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries
Boosts the immune system
Relieves digestive issues
Relieves Asthma and cold symptoms
Diminishes insomnia

CAUTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS:
*Please note that cupping may leave temporary marks that may last a few days. This is a result of bringing non-circulating stagnant blood to the area. It is simply deoxygenated blood and inflammatory chemicals brought to the surface of the skin. Typically, the more cupping you have done, the less this will occur.

Your massage will be enhanced with the addition of Reflexology.

Reflexology is a form of bodywork that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet to produce changes in the body. The premise behind reflexology is that these certain points or "reflex areas" on the feet are connected energetically to specific organs and body parts through energy channels in the body, for example, the tips of the toes correspond to the head and the heart and chest corresponding points are located around the ball of the foot. Your reflexologist will work on the areas found to be reactive, promoting a healing response in those corresponding organs. Energy blockages are believed to be removed and improved health is established in the related body area.

As we age, our nerve endings become less sensitive in many parts of our body, particularly in our extremities. Reflexology has been credited with the potential of stimulating more than 7,000 different nerve endings in a single session, thus increasing their function and reactivity.

Reflexology is also used for post-operative or palliative care. A 2015 review published in Integrative Cancer Therapies found that reflexology was highly effective for the relief of cancer pain and surgery-related pain.

Although the roots of reflexology go back to ancient Egypt and China, in 1915, William H. Fitzgerald, an ear, nose, and throat doctor, presented this concept, calling it "zone therapy". In the 1930’s, American physiotherapist Eunice Ingram further established the zone theory into what is known today as reflexology.

BENEFITS:
Reducing stress and improving stress-related conditions
Addressing tension headaches and migraines
Affecting digestive disorders and eliminating toxins from your body
Calming arthritis
Improving circulation, cycling blood and oxygen to vital organs, thus optimizing their functions
Helping your body relax, reducing insomnia and normalizing healthy circadian rhythms
Improving hormonal imbalances
Reducing the discomfort of menstrual disorders (PMS)
Stimulating nerve function
Addressing digestive problems, such as constipation
Increasing metabolism
Reducing back and neck pain
Reducing the chances of postpartum depression

CAUTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS:
foot ulcers, recent injury, foot or ankle wounds, gout, osteoarthritis (affecting the ankle or foot), active infections, gallstones, kidney stones or a serious cardiovascular condition, reflexology may not be appropriate or safe.

CRAINIOSACRAL

Extremely gentle, but powerful, Craniosacral therapy is a non-invasive, hands-on technique. It is delivered with sensitivity, compassion and presence, with the intent of re-establishing and maintaining your health and well-being, body, mind and spirit.

CST focuses on the relationships between the bones of the skull and spine, the connective tissue membranes and the ebb and flow of tidal waves within a semi-hydraulic, self-aware system called cerebral-spinal fluid. This life-sustaining fluid bathes the brain and spinal cord in rich nutrients and innate intelligence. The circulation of this fluid is designed to cleanse and illuminate our brain and nervous system, maintain balance and allow for the exchange of nutrients and waste products.

An off-balance nervous system puts stress on your body, and chronic stress compromises the immune system, metabolic balance, and the capacity for self-healing. Between 70 and 90 percent of the diseases in our societies stem from anxiety and tension.

The entire body can be assessed and treated by your Craniosacral therapist tuning into and detecting disturbances in the flow and the direction of internal motion and stillness. Your therapist will use a very light touch in order to feel the subtle motion with their hands, like a cork bobbing on the surface of the water, following the rhythmic movement of the cranial sacral pathway.

CST creates the space for your body to bring consciousness to any issue that needs your loving presence to express, to heal and to thrive. It engages your body by echoing its movements, providing it feedback and giving it the focus, attention and space, it needs to access its own healing. Your Craniosacral therapist will listen carefully and mindfully to what your body needs to express, and ease you into a deep, innate healing process, to nourish and recharge the body, mind and spirit.
By accessing the awareness deep inside the body/mind and learning to trust inner wisdom…we surrender to the teacher /healer within

CST is beneficial for all ages from Infant to the Elderly:

BENEFITS: It is effective in managing and recovering from the following list and more:
Back/neck pain
Chronic fatigue
Anxiety
Emotional difficulties
Scoliosis
Concussion
Migraines
ADD/ADHD
